The Memphis Brooks Museum of Art presents "Spotlight Warhol."
Celebrating what would have been Andy Warhol’s 80th birthday, the museum toasts the artist in style with live music and gallery tours.
Enjoy complimentary Warhol birthday cake created by Brushmark Chef de Cuisine Andrew Adams, and specialty birthday cake martinis from the full cash bar. The Brushmark Restaurant will also be open, serving a full menu of tapas and entrées from 5-9 p.m. Call (901) 544-6225 for restaurant reservations.
From 6 to 9pm, groove to live music by local pop/indie band Hi Electric, and the eclectic sounds of DJ Mind at Large in the rotunda. The featured exhibition The Prints of Andy Warhol will also be on view; two guided tours will be offered at 6pm and 6:30pm.
The Spotlight series is the latest addition to the museum’s dynamic Brooks After Hours programming on Thursday evenings. Newly launched this month, Brooks After Hours features something different each week, including gallery tours, live music performances, film screenings, and a special menu of tapas and cocktails in the Brushmark Restaurant. These weekly Thursday evening events take the place of the monthly 1st Wednesday.
“Everyone loved 1st Wednesday, but many of our members wanted a night they could come to the museum every week,” says Membership Program Manager Lauren Patterson. “Brooks After Hours allows us to offer our visitors a great way to experience the museum in a relaxed, informal atmosphere each Thursday evening.”
Spotlight Warhol is free for Members and $7 for non-members. Tickets can be purchased online at brooksmuseum.org or at the door the night of the event.
