In celebration of William Shakespeare's birthday, on April 24 (the day after his presumed birthday) Rhodes College hosts two lectures on "The Taming of the Shrew" by Dr. Dympna Callaghan of Syracuse University and Dr. Leah Marcus of Vanderbilt University.
Both esteemed Shakespeare scholars, they will discuss the challenges of editing and interpreting "The Taming of the Shrew" and related plays.
Free and open to the public, the event begins at 2 p.m. in Blount Auditorium of Buckman Hall. These lectures coincide with the McCoy Theatre's production of "The Taming of the Shrew" that runs April 17-18 and April 23-26.
Those with specific inquiries about the lectures can contact Dr. Scott Newstok at 901-843-3135 or newstoks@rhodes.edu.
