Whether it’s Delta Blues, the funkiest Memphis groove, or the hippest version of the Orange Blossom Special, it all comes out in that distinctive “Slidin’ Clyde Roulette” style.
For over 38 years, “Slidin’” Clyde Roulette has established himself as one of the premier guitar players in his native Canada as well as the United States. An important part of his schooling took place right here in Memphis. While living here, Clyde played on Beale Street and got a house gig at Willie Mitchell’s Legends. Later he joined The Bluesmasters. During his time here, he had house gigs with the Hollywood All Stars, performed with Miss Brown Sugar, J. Blackfoot, Little Howling Wolf (Howling Wolf’s son) and Joe Turner. The Seabird Island Jazz Festival’s description sums it up: “Clyde stands on his own as a Blues artist and accomplished guitarist; an Aboriginal combination of Muddy Waters and Chet Atkins.”
