Fingerstyle guitarist Richard Gilewitz returns to Memphis to boost the holiday spirit with his "Strings for a Season" concert featuring traditional and not-so-traditional tunes. It will be a rousing evening of acoustic guitar--from blues to folk, and traditional to classical.
Named as one of the "Men of Steel' by Fingerstyle Guitar Magazine, Gilewitz fascinates audiences with fingerstyle gymnastics. His ability to make one guitar sound like an entire orchestra stems from 35 years of well-honed technique and 27 years on the road, touring worldwide, creating his own signature sound that has been captured on his seven releases, DVDs, and songbooks.
Gilewitz has shared the stage with Leo Kottke, Norman Black, Indigo Girls, John Hammond, Rory Block, The California Guitar Trio, John McCutcheon, John Renbourn, Mose Allison, the late John Fahey, and Jane Siberry. Gilewitz's live shows bring out the best in this guitarist, storyteller, and humorist who follows a distinct cadence, creating a glow that continually grows a little brighter with each tune. Richard Gilewitz always creates a sparkle of mood mastery and wonderment.
