Old Time String Band Week, July 6 – 9, 2009 at Ozark Folk Center State Park in Mountain View, Ark. is a great opportunity for you to hone your skills on your stringed instrument, as well as play in an ensemble context with other great players.
Pete Howard of Fayetteville, Ark. will be teaching old-time fiddling techniques. Matt Brown of West Chester, Pa. will be leading a class on intermediate clawhammer banjo. And Uncle Albee Tellone of Mountain View, Ark. will be leading a dual class on mandolin and guitar.
Classes meet in the morning for individual instrument instruction. After lunch, everyone will participate in jams, taking turns leading out and providing support. The afternoon jams will feature Shout Lulu, Pete Howard’s band. On Thursday (July 9) afternoon, special guest 3 Penney Acre will also participate in the final afternoon jam.
Fee for this four-day event is $160. This event not recommended for new players or beginners. Class size is limited. Early Registration is advised.
