Austin's NELO Performs at Rhodes College

Description: WHAT: nelo Performance Following the success of their self-titled debut album, nelo are continuing their year-long tour with a few select dates, including Memphis. The Austin-based pop music sextet will be playing at Rhodes College in Memphis on November 7th.

The band began releasing singles from their new EP, one each month, starting on March 17th with the release of “Love Solution”. Since then, “Story of our Lives,” “2 Years Ago,” and “Break Through” were all released digitally, giving loyal fans something to tide them over, and converting fans in the process, leading up to the release of Two Years Ago in July.

nelo will be performing songs from their newly released EP titled Two Years Ago along with songs from their self-titled debut album.

ABOUT nelo:
nelo, whose members grew up in Texas, briefly decamped to Athens, Ga., to define their sound, leaving behind an early demo of their acoustic-based rock that’s punctuated with jazz chops and horns. nelo’s return to Austin found growing crowds waiting for more and a record deal with Justice/Pedernales Records. Their self-titled debut album was released last April, and they began releasing one single each month this year from March–June from their new “Two Years Ago e.p.”. The EP has only been released digitally and is over 2,000 downloads.

nelo’s debut album hit as high as the #21 spot on both the Billboard Magazine “New Artist Album” and Heatseekers charts. The album has sold 20,000 downloads and had critics such as Texas Music Magazine taking notice, saying nelo’s debut, "delivers arguably the catchiest batch of jam-friendly melodic pop since Blues Traveler's Four.”

nelo is Matt Ragland (acoustic guitar, backing vocals), Chris Hill (drums, percussion), Stephen Goodson (electric guitar), David Long (tenor and soprano sax, flute), Mike St. Clair (bass, trombone) and Reid Umstattd (lead vocals).
