Description: Local Heifer International volunteers will be hosting a Living Market at Mullin’s United Methodist Church, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the corner of Mendenhall & Walnut Grove.
Heifer International is a nonprofit organization that gives the gift of livestock and education to families here in the United States and throughout the world so that they can become more self-reliant and begin to live sustainably. Animals are “bought” by donors and Heifer in turn works with communities to make the dream of self-reliance a reality.
Since its beginning, Heifer has given livestock to more than 10 million families and many more have profited through the concept of ‘Passing on the Gift’.
A Living Market is an exhibition of Heifer materials and animals that offers the public an opportunity to learn more about the organization and to purchase ‘alternative’ Christmas gifts. This year, Roxywoods Farm will be bringing one of their beautiful llamas so that folks can see one of the animals that Heifer gives in remote parts of the world.
