This year, give yourself the gift of a new skill and learn to make gifts that your friends and family will treasure. This November, the Ozark Folk Center is offering you a chance to learn how to bring back the good old-fashioned Christmas. Get away to Mountain View, Arkansas for three days on November 13-15, 2009 and learn how to make traditional crafts in your own style. During our Make it a Handmade Christmas Folk School there will be classes on:
1. Blacksmithing - Gifts from the forge – Scott Riedy – 3 days
2. Broom making – Shawn Hoefer – 3 days
3. Bookbinding – Melinda Lefever – 1 day, November 13
4. Carve an Ornament in Wood– Bill Standard – 3 days
5. Chair Caning – Sheryl Irvine – 3 days
6. Christmas Cookery – Alice Chambers – 3 days
7. Cornshuck Angels – Erlene Carter and Paula Lane – 1 Day, November 13.
8. Felting Class - 3-Day - Dana Shaeffer
9. Frame looms, fibers and finishes – Arlone Folkers – 3 days
10. Gifts from the Garden - Kathleen Connole – 1 Day, November 15
11. Gifts for the body – Melinda Lefever - 1 Day, November 14
12. Leather – Amy Lawrence – 3 days
13. Old-fashioned Santa – Doris Fountain – 3 days
14. Photography – Phillip Walrod – 3 days
15. Painting on found objects – Danita Hageman – 3 Days
16. Pine Needle Basketry – Sharon Fernimen – 3 Days
17. Pottery - Nativity or Gingerbread House – Judi Munn – 1 Day, November 15.
18. Sewing – Gail Lewis – 1,2,or 3 day
19. Stained Glass ornaments – 3- Day – Dona Sawyer –
20. The Missing Link – Lyla Allison - 3-Days
21. Triangle loom weaving – Jeanette Larson – 2 day, November 14-15. Materials
22. Weave a fishing creel basket – Jeannie Dudley – 3 days
23. Wire-wrapped Jewelry – Charles and Linda Widmer – 3 days -
24. Folk Kids Holidays, bring your kids! – Mary Gillihan – 3 days – This program is for children between the ages of 7 and 14 years old. The Fee for this class is $15/day, total.
These are comfortable, fun classes. The maximum number of students in any class is 8. Registration deadline for all Handmade Christmas Folk School classes is October 30, 2009.
The Skillet Restaurant will be open from 7 am to 2 pm serving breakfast and lunch during Handmade Christmas Folk School to help make your visit trouble free.
