The Kusun Ensemble from Ghana will perform African-jazz music and dance as well as speak about their home in West Africa. The performance begins at 6:30 p.m. in the McCallum Ballroom of the Bryan Campus Life Center. It is free and open to the public with seating first come, first served.
Including past members of The National Ballet and The Pan African Orchestra, the Kusun Ensemble create innovative rhythms and dances by fusing bass and lead guitar, electrifying jazz and African rhythms, and traditional Ghanaian instruments.
The Memphis performance is presented by Rhodes’ Center for Outreach in the Development of the Arts (CODA) as part of its “World Music Series.” Cosponsors are the Mike Curb Institute, Multicultural Affairs, and the English, Modern Language, and Music departments.
