
Elvis Week 2010 officially kicks off with a new event, "Shake
Rattle & Roll" at the Shell on Aug. 10, benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association.
This will be an unprecedented event at the historic Levitt Shell, formerly known as The Overton Park Shell, where Elvis played his first concert in Memphis.
The evening starts off with a VIP only ticketed event featuring a meet and greet with celebrities, Elvis Wine Cellars complimentary wine tastings, back stage tours of the Shell and a gourmet reception. The VIP event will take place from 5-6 p.m. and VIP tickets are $75 and are limited to 150 people.
At 7 p.m., come out to celebrate the official kick off of Elvis Week 2010 with a live recreation of this concert by the award-winning Elvis Tribute Artist Donny Edwards, along with the Change of Habit Band. For three years in a row, Donny has been among the top three contestants in The Ultimate
Elvis Tribute Artist Contest. The event will also feature celebrity guests, select memorabilia vendors and a fabulous silent auction featuring a special watercolor by artist Joe Petruccio, created just for this event, titled “Rock Angel.” General Admission tickets are $40. Additional enhancements to the event will be announced in late July.
After the concert, Warner Bros. will be presenting a free outdoor screening of “Jailhouse Rock” in celebration of The Elvis 75th Anniversary DVD Collection! Doors for the General admission event open
at 6 p.m., show starts at 7 p.m. Movie will start at approximately 8:30 pm. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and sit under the stars at the historic Levitt Shell.
