It's an evening with Paul Taylor and Dave Cousar. Paul is off the road from the world traveling Amy LaVere, and it's time for a rare Memphis solo show. Both Dave and Paul will be doing solo sets. And Paul will be performing his signature looping on multiple instruments with Dave on Guitar. It's going to be a mixed bag of pop, rock, jazz, and psychedelic/experimental music not to be missed.

"This show is gonna be more of a loose affair, with Dave and I expounding upon each others loops and craziness whilst trying to squeeze a song or two in there." -- Paul

PAUL TAYLOR. Self described "musical multitasker" Paul Taylor has been a professional musician since his early teens. Already recognized as one of the best bass players and drummers in Memphis at that tender age, Paul emerged in The North Mississippi Allstars precursors D.D.T. and Gut Bucket. He's gone on to play with a host of acts including, Big Ass Truck, Shawn Lane, Gamble Brothers, Bloodthirsty Lovers (with Grifters Dave Shouse), Interrobang, Antenna Shoes, and now Amy LaVere.

Paul has released two critically acclaimed solo albums, Open Closed in 2006 and Share It in 2009. He's an excellent songwriter and a stellar musician, but perhaps his most interesting performance is his live loop multracking of several instruments at a time.

"Paul Taylor's irrepressible musicality is kept somewhat in check when asked to just keep the beat (for Amy LaVere, Antenna Shoes, etc.). So, on his own, it all tumbles out, and this one-man-band solo album leaps from quirky indie-pop confessionals to Brazilian rhythms, to Prince-like homemade soul/funk, to downbeat, country-inflected anti-anthems." — Chris Herrington, Memphis Flyer.

DAVE COUSAR. Dave Cousar made his first mark in Memphis with longtime local favorites The Bluebeats. He plays guitar fluently in dozens of different genres and styles and can shift seamlessly among them. Over the course of the years he played and toured around the globe with artists from Jim Dickinson to Rufus and Carla Thomas, studied classical guitar theory, and recorded with the likes of Al Green, Willie Mitchell, and Memphis chanteuse Susan Marshall.
