Slave Haven Underground Railroad Museum celebrates "Harriet Tubman Day"

Harriet Tubman Day will be observed at Slave Haven UGRR Museum (Burkle Estate), 826 N. Second.

Harriet Tubman, who became a conductor on the famed Underground Railroad lead hundreds of enslaved Africans to freedom.

In 2007 the State of Tennessee joined other states in designating March 10, the date of Harriet Tubman’s death as Harriet Tubman Day.

A special presentation at Slave Haven on March 13 will feature actress/storyteller Hester Moore in “Spirit of Harriet Tubman" and African Music & Spirituals by Ekpe Abioto.

In addition to guided tours of the museum, other activities will be held throughout the day to pay tribute to this courageous woman who fought for dignity rights, and justice for all people.

Museum hours are 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
