Mat Kearney has been in some of the most popular and talked-about television shows of recent years, including "NCIS," "The Closer," "Without A Trace," "Scrubs," "The Hills" and "Grey's Anatomy." But you're forgiven if you don't recognize his face; it never appeared on screen. A poster-boy for alternative music marketing, Kearney has become a go-to artist for television soundtracks. Kearney performs Wednesday at Minglewood Hall with Nashville soundtrack diva Erin McCarley.

The Vest boys, brothers and bandmates Toby and Jake, spent their July 4 holiday in Las Vegas. The long-planned vacation took on a more far-reaching nature at the last minute when Toby decided to use it as an opportunity to wed his longtime girlfriend. Back home now, the pair won't have much of an opportunity to recover from their trip as they throw themselves into their latest musical project, the Bulletproof Vests.

As if mayoral chaos, property tax increases and the concept of "Allen Iverson, Grizzly" weren't frightening enough, Memphis will become an intentional haunt of horror next month when shooting begins on a new MTV series, "Savage County." Created by David Harris, a producer with MTV New Media, the 15-webisode program will employ many of the local crew members who worked on Memphis filmmaker Craig Brewer's similarly Web-based "$5 Cover," which made its debut online and on MTV in April after being shot here last summer.

It's remained current and relevant over the years through consistency in quality and service, and by frequently hosting wine dinners to remind folks it's still there and thriving in its corner, tucked away off Sanderlin."
