Located just south of Memphis, DeSoto county is one of the fastest growing counties in the United States. Most of the growth has been in the cities of Southaven, Hernando and Olive Branch. Residents enjoy country living close to a major urban center.
The county seat, Hernando, features a town square with restaurants, antique stores and boutiques. Hernando was names a 2008 Playful City USA community by Washington-based KaBOOM! for taking a unique approach to encouraging play among area children.
Residents of DeSoto County and the surrounding area flock tothe DeSoto Civic center to see Riverkings hockey games, rodeos and concerts. The area is also home to Bonne Terre, a luxury bed and breakfast. DeSoto County is also known for its golf courses.
