Eric Gales Band tops Cooper-Young Fest bill
The Eric Gales Band is the headliner for the 20th edition of the annual Cooper-Young Festival.
The Midtown neighborhood event — held at the intersection of Cooper and Young streets — is scheduled for Sept. 13. The festival combines a variety of attractions, from concerts to food vendors to booths featuring the works of local artisans.
Besides blues-rockers The Eric Gales Band, a host of noteworthy local acts will perform, including garage-rock supergroup Snake Eyes, indie-pop crew Snowglobe, hip-hoppers Iron Mic Coalition and the University of Memphis Jazz Band.
Started in 1988 as a neighborhood gathering, the annual festival — staged by the Cooper-Young Business Association — has grown exponentially from its humble beginnings. No longer just a showcase for local merchants, it’s become one of the bigger outdoor festivals in the region.
