Three Sarah Palins made the scene at The Zarr Party Friday night at the Warehouse in the South Main area.
Kim Bennett dressed as Palin and Kim's husband, George, attended as Palin's husband, Todd. Completing the trio was Mark Dodson as Joe the Plumber.
As usual, some couples didn't go together. Imran Siddiqui dressed as the Love Guru and Gillian Smoot, who was with him, was Robin -- as in Batman and Robin.
J.D. and Susan DeHart and Kris Kourdouvelis and Sharon Gray hosted the party, which, according to Kris, celebrated its 15th anniversary.
Chicken Tractor time
The Chicken Tractor Halloween party wound down around 2 a.m. at Newby's.
Matt Marcuzzo and Whitney Murray were among the late nighters. So that he could complement Whitney's military uniform costume, Matt planned to borrow his buddy's Army uniform. That didn't work out, so he went to a thrift store on Summer Avenue and found clothing that transformed him into a SWAT team member.
Donny Kwon, who hosted the party with Nick Rice and Ricky Brillard, estimated that 250 to 300 people attended the party. Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis was the beneficiary.
Merry Marketplace
Three days before Halloween, people partied amid Christmas trees, wreaths and other Yuletide decorations as "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" and other carols played at Agricenter International.
Junior League of Memphis' Merry Marketplace kicked off its four-day shopping event with a preview party Wednesday night. "Winter Wonderland" was this year's theme.
A total of 160 vendors from 22 states participated, said chairman Laura Russell.
Christmas wreaths greeted guests as they entered the party. Junior League sustainer Barbara Fitzgerald got people together to make wreaths to sell so they could make money for community projects.
The booth belonging to Ruth and Jim Copeland from Plainview, Texas, may have been the most unusual. They offered thousands of figurines ranging from less-than-an-inch to 5 inches tall, made by hand out of polymer clay. Ruth began making the figurines out of flour and salt until she realized polymer clay was more durable. The most complicated pieces were the Raggedy Ann and Andy figures, each of which were made from 24 individual pieces of clay.
