LA says to go to Sekisui (multiple locations). "Ten Ju at Sekisui. $7.50 for your choice of soup, salad, five shrimp tempura with broccoli, bell pepper, cauliflower and onion tempura over a bowl of rice. A huge meal for the money."

Canale's Grocery (10170 Raleigh-LaGrange E., Eads; 853-9490) is Chris' choice: "Darn good and cheap sandwiches at Canale's on Raleigh-LaGrange. For about $2.50 you get a thick helping of sliced ham, smoked turkey or lunch meat with or without cheese, lettuce and tomato."

Molly goes for Cozy Corner (745 North Parkway; 527-9158). "The sandwiches at Cozy Corner are super cheap. As I recall, the sausage sandwich was $2.50 the last time I got one."

Allie has a few suggestions. "Asiana Garden's (5992 Mt. Moriah; 795-6147) $3.50 bowl lunch is a nice portion of cheap food that won't make you feel like your arteries are going to shrivel up in protest. And she can't remember the name of the following place, but I'm intrigued. I bet we can all find it:

"My favorite 'How long till the next paycheck?' meal has to be the little Chinese place next to the Kroger at Kirby Parkway and Quince. If you can make yourself understood to the cook, he'll put basically any combination of anything you want in a big box with fried rice and an egg roll for four bucks. Enough for two people to split. I get Hunan pork with mixed veggies. Their soup is good too."
