Two small exhibitions open at Dixon Gallery and Gardens this weekend.

“The Road to Claude Monet: Four Paintings and Three Others,” in the museum’s Brinkley Gallery, features four canvases by French Impressionist pioneer Claude Monet and one each by Camille Corot, Alfred Sisley and Camille Pissarro. Five of the works are from the Dixon’s permanent collection; two are on loan from Diane B. Wilsey, a private art collector and chairman of the board of trustees of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. The loan was facilitated by John Buchanan, director of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and former director of the Dixon. The works will be displayed through Dec. 1.

The other show, “Toujours l’Audace,” features realistic, satirical paintings by local artist Jed Jackson, professor of painting at the University of Memphis and former chairman of the Department of Art. The show, which hangs through Nov. 16, is part of the Dixon’s “Mallory at Wurtzburger” series, the names signifying the two small galleries where the work is displayed.

Dixon Gallery and Gardens is at 4339 Park. Call 761-5250 or visit dixon.org.
