Presented by Malco Theatres and the Memphis and Shelby County Film & Television Commission, the event is a fundraiser for Indie Memphis.
Produced as a Web series for MTV.com, the made-in-Memphis “$5 Cover” — a fact-inspired, fictional episodic serial centering on the lives and loves of Memphis musicians — debuts on the MTV network and online May 1.
All 15 episodes of the series (which, together, essentially form a 95-minute feature) will be shown during the April 30 screenings — the first public premiere for a Brewer project since his debut feature, “The Poor & Hungry,” in 2000.
