Go Taste: Wine tastings around town

Want to get out and taste something good this week? Consider the following:

Saturday

Great Wines & Spirits continues the blind taste-off competition to select this year's customer favorites from 1 to 3 p.m. at Salsa restaurant, 6150 Poplar in Regalia. This week, it's merlots. Volunteer Mid-South hosts the 10th Annual Summer in the City party at Chickasaw Oaks Village, 3092 Poplar, at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $35 and include Mexican hors d'oeuvres, margaritas, beer, wine and fruit tea, and dancing by professional salsa dancers, in addition to a silent auction. Monday

The Butcher Shop, Sarah Kitchens with Star Distributors and Trinity Wine and Liquor co-host a wine tasting at the restaurant at 6:30 p.m. $25 includes Liberty School and Candor wines and heavy hors d'oeuvres. Call 757-4244 for reservations. 107 S. Germantown Pkwy.

The Mesquite Chop House, 88 Union, hosts a farm-to-table summer wine dinner at 7 p.m. (6:30 p.m. arrival). $60; call 527-5337 for reservations.

Tuesday

The 7th Annual Main Street West Memphis Taste of the Town is from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Southland Park Gaming and Racing Kennel Club, 1550 N. Ingram Blvd. in West Memphis. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door; call (870) 735-1134.

Napa Cafe hosts a wine dinner at 6:30 p.m., featuring rosés from the Grateful Palate portfolio. Tiffany Werne will be present to discuss the wines. Four wines and four courses for $45. Reservations can be made by calling the restaurant at 683-0441. 5101 Sanderlin.
