OK, so you can't bring yourself to leave the cooking to someone else on Christmas. Sounds like Santa owes someone a night on the town for New Year's Eve. Here's a listing of some diners around town for consideration.
If your favorite place isn't on the list, that doesn't mean it's not serving. Just call and ask. New Year's Eve books early, so get your reservations now. And remember that the prices below do not include tax and gratuity.

The Majestic Grille's New Year's Eve philosophy is "everyone gets to celebrate," so chef/owner Patrick Reilly will serve his regular menu, plus a few specials. Dress up or down, and watch the ball fall on the big screen at midnight. Seating starts at 5 p.m. and live original jazz by The Paul McKinney Band begins at 7 p.m. 145 S. Umai offers three courses for $30. First course is a duck leg confit with grilled herbed polenta and spicy jerk reduction; the second is surf 'n turf — seared seven-spice tuna on scattered sushi rice and wasabi crema and grilled hanger steak on stir-fried pork belly and Asian greens with bordelaise. Dessert is a chocolate brownie roulade with espresso creme anglaise. $30 per person, not including alcohol. Vegan and vegetarian adjustments will be made. 2015 Madison; call 405-4241.
At Equestria, there are seatings at 6 and 8 p.m. Dinner is $55 and includes four courses. Choose from shrimp, quail or a mushroom tart for the first course; the second is a choice of two salads, a seafood martini or she-crab soup. The third course choices are seafood pasta, roast chicken, a filet or pork loin; the fourth course is a choice of lemon crepes, chocolate molten cake or Grand Marnier creme brulee. $55. At Sole in the Westin Hotel, you can ring in the new year for $40 for four courses, or $60 with wine. The first course is mini blue crab cakes; second includes a choice of soup or salad; third is a choice of a filet or salmon; and dessert is chocolate-covered strawberries, strawberry tart and a champagne toast. Grill 83 at the Madison Hotel offers a three- or four-course dinner that includes several options among each course. Entree selections are beef tenderloin; pan-seared ahi tuna with grilled jumbo prawns; or roasted rack of lamb. Dinner is served 5:30-11 p.m. and is $60 for three courses or $69 for four courses. At Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen, 712 W. Brookhaven Circle, four courses are $75; wine pairings add $30. Call 347-3569 for reservations.
The Inn at Hunt Phelan, 533 Beale, is taking reservations from 6 to 11 p.m. $79 includes live music, champagne and finger foods at midnight, and four courses. The first (for luck) includes oysters, black-eyed peas and greens. The second is a lobster-shiitake mac and cheese; choose from beef tenderloin, redfish, lamb or sweetbreads for the third course; and choose from chocolate or winter citrus for dessert. Currents at the River Inn of Harbor Town will serve a three-course menu starting at 5 p.m. The cost is $85.
The Beauty Shop will offer a four-course fixed-price menu for $60.00. It will include choice of four appetizers, soup or salad, four entrées and 4 desserts. The items will also be available á la carte. Gary Johns and his Mini Ratpack Orchestra will perform throughout the night, beginning at 7:30.
At Stella Marris, a three-course dinner for two is $89.95. Choose from soup or salad for the first course, a filet, shrimp and grits or fish (with sides) for the second, and finish with a choice of three desserts. Dinner is served from 5 to 10 p.m. and music by Hudson and Saleeby and saxophonist Wes Walker is 10 p.m.-2 a.m. Price does not include alcohol. Grace Restaurant, 938 S. Cooper, offers three courses for $55. Choices include quail or lobster in the second course and lamb or cod in the third. Vegan and vegetarian options available, and bubbly at midnight. Call 274-8511 for reservations.

The Peabody will be hopping on New Year's Eve. You can choose from dinner at Chez Philippe from 6 to 11:30 p.m. for $125, which includes a wristband to The Scene Party. Call 529-4188
At the Capriccio Grill, 5-10 p.m., dinner is $90, which includes a wristband to The Scene Party. Reservations: 529-4199.
The Scene Party is in the lobby, the Continental Ballroom and the Corner Bar and includes entertainment by Andy Childs with DJ Cody Rogers and John Felix Trio; $40.
The WildSide Party in the Grand Ballroom, $50, features Saving Abel with Al Kapone and DJ Mark Anderson. Both parties are from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.; entertainment begins at 8 p.m. Call 529-4000 for more information.
