Bill and Mona Sappenfield turned out to support the Beale Street Caravan.

Three Sid Selvidges attended the Beale Street Caravan fundraiser Thursday night at the Red Rooster.

Musician/singer Sid Selvidge II is one of the founders of Beale Street Caravan, a worldwide syndicated radio show broadcast from Memphis and heard in 400 cities worldwide. Sid Selvidge III is his son and Sid Selvidge IV is his grandson.

Sid III did a little dancing with his daughter, Meg Selvidge, at the party, which featured a silent auction and harmonica lessons from Billy Gibson, who performed with his band during the evening.

Beale Street Caravan, a nonprofit organization, reaches 2.4 million people weekly, said Sid II, the show's executive producer. "We promote our indigenous musical culture to a worldwide audience," he said.

Hosting the event with Sid was Cynthia Ham, president of the Beale Street Caravan board. She attended with her husband, Jeff Sanford.

Orpheum art auction

If the weather is warm, it's time to buy some cool art at The Orpheum's annual art auction.

Orpheum president Pat Halloran conducted the live auction Thursday night in the theater's lobby. A silent auction also was held.

Food was provided by Automatic Slim's, Circa, Itta Bena and The Majestic Grille.
