Live book chat tonight on novel “Lark & Termite”

Join us on my Web siteTheShelfLifeBlog.com at 7 tonight for a live online discussion of Jayne Anne Phillips’ new novel “Lark & Termite” (Alfred A. Knopf, $24).

It’s a story set in 1959 about Lark, a young girl who takes care of her handicapped half-brother, Termite.

Interspersed in the tale are the 1950 memories of Lark’s father, a soldier who lies dying of friendly fire in a cave in Korea. What he mainly remembers is Lark and Termite’s mother, a reckless cabaret singer.
