People: Rachael delivers a 'ray' of hope to soup kitchen

Television cooking star Rachael Ray is boosting the local food supply for a struggling Ohio town.

On Saturday, Ray brought a Wilmington soup kitchen new appliances, shelves and furniture. Ray's show allso promised to supply food for the kitchen for the next year.

The soup kitchen is getting as many customers in a day as it did in a week a year ago.

Wilmington is still reeling from the departure of DHL Express and other Wilmington Air Park operations, which has left a 15 percent local unemployment rate in its wake.

On Sunday, the Food Network star hosted an early Thanksgiving feast for the community. The soup kitchen improvements and the Thanksgiving meal are scheduled to be featured on "The Rachael Ray Show" on Nov. 25. The show airs at 11 a.m. on WMC-TV Channel 5.

Boyle found fame exhausting

Susan Boyle's publicity train is back on track, reports msnbc.com.

The Scottish singer adressed her difficulties with sudden fame before she performs on "Dancing With The Stars" tonight.

"You have to understand, my life ceased to be normal when 'Britain's Got Talent' went live," the talent-show finalist told the Scottish paper The Daily Record. "There were phone calls 24 hours a day. They kept me awake for three weeks until I changed my number. It was totally out of control, like a steamroller. It just got bigger and bigger and bigger until, eventually, it can flatten you."

Boyle also discussed the final week of the show, when she lost to dance act Diversity, and ultimately was hospitalized for exhaustion.

"I hadn't eaten properly for about a week, hadn't slept properly," she said. ... " I needed to sleep. I was too tired to even think straight."

On "Dancing With the Stars," Boyle is expected to perform a song from her debut album, "I Dreamed a Dream," which will be released Nov. 24. The show will air at 8:01 p.m. on WPTY-TV Channel 24.

Actress makes move to 'Chicago'

Where does a crazy "Melrose Place" character go after she dies? Apparently, the Windy City by way of the Great White Way, reports people.com.

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, 25, isn't taking a break after getting axed from the prime-time soap. Instead, she's set to play Roxie Hart in the Broadway production of Chicago, starting in December for six weeks, Gossip Cop reports.

It's not an unfamiliar role. Simpson-Wentz played the role in the London run of the musical. It would, however, be her Broadway debut.
