Best Bets: Soup at Zinnie's East

Each year when fall comes around, the folks at Zinnie's East get their annual Soup-A-Rama going. In addition to the standard menu choices -- black bean, seafood bisque and broccoli cheese -- the rotation of customer favorites begins.

And it's not just favorite soups, but also favorite recipes. Over the years customers have provided recipes for soups they love, which have become part of the cool-weather tradition.

Each day three or four selections, such as chicken enchilada, cream of tomato with blue cheese (and regular tomato), Italian wedding, minestrone and others, are added to the menu. All of the soups except the seafood bisque are $3.50 per cup or $4.25 per bowl, and a grilled cheese sandwich on the side is $2.50 more. (The seafood bisque is $3.95 and $4.95.)

Zinnie's East, 1718 Madison, is open from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and the kitchen is open 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Call 274-7101.
