The son of Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Famer and Kennedy Center Honors recipient Paul Simon, Harper Simon, who performs Tuesday at the Hi-Tone Café, has been a subject in his dad's songs ("St. Judy's Comet," "Graceland") for years. Now the former Menlo Park band member has struck out on his own with the release of his eponymous debut album, featuring a cast of legendary studio sidemen including Memphis players Mike Leech on bass and Gene Chrisman on drums. Local roots singer-songwriter Jessica Jones opens.

Wednesday
Alt-country singer-songwriter Scott Miller hits Newby's on Wednesday. Miller, one of the founders of '90s Knoxville band the V-Roys and a highly regarded solo artist, will be playing songs from across his career, including those found on his most recent album, For Crying Out Loud. Fellow roots rockers Reckless Kelly, from Austin, will also perform.

Thursday
Teen fans of Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" series of vampire novels are invited to get their fang on at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library, 3030 Poplar, for a free public discussion of the books; fans also will be able to make "Team Jake" and "Team Edward" buttons to wear later that night, to the midnight Thursday premiere of "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" at area theaters.
