Thigh High Jeans, founded by Memphians Ann Smithwick and Kerry Peeples, features recycled jeans embellished with additional fabrics and embroidered with a philosophical quote — such as "The best way to predict your future is to create it" and "Reality leaves a lot to the imagination." Each pair is unique, and men's, women's and children's sizes are available.
Beyond fashion, Thigh High stresses philanthropy, environmental responsibility and what it calls "creative giving."
"We remake jeans that move beyond function to become catalysts for positive social change," the company says on its Facebook page. Along those lines, Thigh High will donate half of the profit from each purchase to a nonprofit organization of the customer's choice.
Thigh High Jeans officially launches Friday during the monthly South Main Art Trolley Tour with an event from 6 till 9 p.m. at 525 S. Main. The public is invited to drop off jeans to be recycled.
