Recording artist Alicia Keys is launching a company called AK Worldwide which will focus on the singer's projects, especially those outside of music.
Alicia Keys has influenced many lives with her soulful, heart-aching piano-driven songs for almost a decade.
Now that the 12-time Grammy winner has established herself as one of music's brightest stars, Keys is ready to inspire others -- without singing a tune.
Keys is launching AK Worldwide, a new company that will handle the singer's projects, especially those outside of music.
"It really explores the ways I can affect the world in a positive way, even outside of music," Keys said in an interview Tuesday.
Keys also will launch a new Web site, iamasuperwoman.com, devoted to spotlighting inspirational women and causes that will fill a missing gap in the blogosphere, Keys said.
"It really calls out to all those brilliant, amazing, fantastic women every day that are doing their thing and need kind of a community to support each other," she said.
Keys said the creativity has spilled over to her music, and that it's reflected on her fourth studio CD, "The Element of Freedom," to be released Dec. 1.
Keys credits Oprah Winfrey and other business-minded people with turning on her entrepreneurial spirit.
"Why do I love Oprah? Because she's able to bring you things that will really change your life," Keys said.
Jon and Kate inspire 'Law & Order'
The very public feud between reality TV parents Jon and Kate Gosselin is bleeding into other TV shows: An upcoming episode of NBC's "Law & Order" will feature a storyline about a murderous reality TV dad with 10 kids, according to radaronline.com.
The episode, titled "Reality Bites," tells the story of a real estate developer named Larry who signs a contract to film a reality show -- called "Larry Plus 10" -- the day after his wife is murdered.
"Jon & Kate Plus 8" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on TLC; the Law & Order episode airs Oct. 16 on WMC-TV Channel 5.
No place like home for Hudson
Jennifer Hudson returns to her hometown of Chicago for an ABC prime-time special, "Jennifer Hudson: I'll Be Home for Christmas," that will air in December.
The network says the 28-year-old singer-actress will share childhood memories of the music, people and places that set the stage for her career. Musical performances will be filmed on location throughout the city.
Hudson, who gained fame first as a top contender on "American Idol," won an Oscar for her role in "Dreamgirls" and a Grammy for best R&B album for her self-titled debut CD.
Hudson's mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew were slain in Chicago last year.
