Just about everything, including a kitchen sink, was included at the recent Memphis Heritage Architectural Auction at Howard Hall.

More than 500 items were featured in the auction, which is held every two years to raise money to help save historical landmarks and spaces, said Memphis Heritage executive director June West. Among the items were signs from Libertyland and the Mid-South Fair.

They are not able to save every historic place. But by auctioning off architectural pieces, West said, "We kind of make the best of a bad situation when a place comes down."

Brennan Villines and his band performed.

300 honor breast cancer survivors

Mid-South breast cancer survivors were honored at a jam-packed party, "Small World Big Hope: A Hair Raising Event," Oct. 12 at Andrew Michael Italian Restaurant.

Rena Chiozza and Pat McRee were co-chairmen of the event, which featured a silent auction of small works of art.

About 300 people attended and almost $10,000 was raised, Chiozza estimated.

Memphis Cancer Foundation, Flying Colors Cancer Network and UT Cancer Institute were the sponsors.
