People: Clooney to make series about a Memphis cop

Network lineups are bursting at the seams with detective dramas.

So just how do you engineer a new strain of detective drama when nearly every precinct and private eye persona has been explored? Allow Academy Award-winning actor George Clooney to show you.

According to movieline.com, TNT has greenlit the star's drama series about "an outstanding but unusual Memphis cop who moonlights as an Elvis impersonator and lives with his mother."

The pilot is being produced by Clooney's Smokehouse Pictures and Warner Horizon, and written by Liz Garcia ("Cold Case") and Josh Harto. Clooney's producing partner and "Good Night and Good Luck" co-writer, Grant Heslov, will join Clooney, Garcia and Harto as executive producers.

Gaga writes song for 'Idol' alum

"American Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert will soon join Britney Spears in the group of acts that Lady Gaga has penned tracks for, according to mtv.com.

In a partnership made in disco heaven (and more important, confirmed via Twitter), the collaboration will be featured on Lambert's debut album, For Your Entertainment. On Tuesday, Lady Gaga spilled details to Dallas radio station KISS 106.1 on how their partnership came to be.

"I worked with Adam. I think it was last week," Gaga told the station. "They called me. They asked me to write for him. I was actually like, 'Geez, I got this record that I wrote a while ago.' It's, like, a total hit, smash record, but for some reason, like, I couldn't get it right with me doing it, and I said, 'Gosh, it would be perfect for him.'"

Gaga is set to release The Fame: Monster in November.

Lambert will get his chance when his debut album hits stores on Nov. 23. Recently, the singer released "Time for Miracles," a single for the soundtrack to the upcoming film 2012.

Teen actress heads to Broadway

From spunky "Little Miss Sunshine" to an even more heroic young girl.

Abigail Breslin will play Helen Keller in the first Broadway revival of William Gibson's "The Miracle Worker," scheduled to open on March 3, producer David Richenthal announced Wednesday. Previews begin Feb. 12 at New York's Circle in the Square Theatre.

Alison Pill will portray Annie Sullivan, the determined instructor who teaches the deaf and blind Helen how to communicate.

"I am so honored," the 13-year-old Breslin said in an interview. "It's like the biggest thing in the world. ... I have read the biography of Helen Keller. So I've always known the story, and it's always been something I wanted to play."

Rehearsals for this new "Miracle Worker" begin Jan. 11.
