Muffuletta

It’s the big game weekend, and even if you’re not all “Who Dat” and “Geaux,” you still might want to indulge in a muffuletta. Whining & Dining bloggers say these are good ones:

Benito and WLR like Jason’s Deli (multiple locations): “Sorry to go with the chains here, but the one at Jason’s Deli is the best I’ve had here since Cafe Roux closed,” Benito says.

Dino’s (645 N. McLean; 278-9127) is Mrs. P’s pick: “Dino’s, by far, the BEST muffuletta in town! Very similar to Central Grocery’s in New Orleans.” Fred concurs.

Andy: The Italian Rebel (1636 Winchester; 345-5164) in Whitehaven makes a tasty version.

Deen: Lavoro’s, (5849 Summer; 377-2141) does a pressed version that’s very tasty as well (extra points to them for the homemade potato chips that accompany it).

There are others; take a look at whiningdining.com.

The best is at Jerry's Snow Cone. The best
olive salad I have eaten out side New Orleans.
You can get it standard slightly heated but I like it at room temp. with the salad on top and bottom. Have them quarter it and it is even better later. ( the olive salad is made in New Orleans ). I suggest you try it. A great meal at $6 plus have a ( the best ) snow cone after.
