What are you listening to?

Well, naturally, I listen to a lot of local music. I’ve really been into Lucero’s 1372 Overton Park a lot; I love that CD. I’m listening to a lot of older Memphis music too. I hosted the W.C. Handy Heritage awards a couple months ago, and it brought me into contact with so many music legends like Carla Thomas and J. Blackfoot, and I’m a huge Soul Children fan. So I’ve been listening to that stuff and a lot of things by the late Willie Mitchell.

But, because I have a 5-year-old daughter who loves pop music, Lady Gaga and Beyonce are always playing. Those are her ladies. And also, when we’re in the car she’s like, “Mommy, let’s listen to some AC/DC!”, so we spend a lot of time driving around listening to AC/DC.

What are you reading?

I just read the whole “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series. It’s a children’s book, but I’m a huge fan of mythology. As a result of reading them, I pulled out the “Bullfinch’s Mythology,” which is the best compendium of Greek mythology, and I’ve also been spending time with the “Poetic Edda,” a collection of Norse mythology. I just went back into this whole mythology world.

What are you watching?

I hate reality TV, but “Celebrity Rehab” on VH1. My husband watches that, so I keep getting sucked into it because I’m really interested in the process they go through. The one thing I’ve gotten through watching that is that it seems like the people on the show just needed a little more love in their life, someone to love them and believe in them. But for mindless indulgence I love “Family Guy” and “The Daily Show.” And I will actually watch reruns of “Early Edition” (co-starring her husband, actor Billy Worley). Just because I enjoy looking at my husband (laughs). In fact, the other night, (the feature film) “Space Cowboys” was on, and he’s in that. And we were watching it just so we could ask our daughter, “Do you know who that is?” And she said, ‘That looks like Daddy!’
