When Dina Martin and Jenny Vergos sang, "Come to the cabaret!" Saturday night at the Children's Museum of Memphis, they weren't kidding. One room was transformed into a cabaret with a dance floor, stage, bar and live entertainment. The rest of the museum was Paris, France, with an Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe and Charlie Chaplin.

All this and a fire eater, trapeze artists, face painting, caricature drawing, salsa and tango dancing, a French wine tasting, French cuisine and a Big Toy Auction were ingredients for the Cirque du CMOM, the third and largest of the annual Cirque fundraisers for the museum, said Dick Hackett, the museum's chief executive officer.

Boas and top hats were available for guests who didn't dress Parisian enough. Reb Haizlip brought his own 10-gallon top hat.

The Plaintiffs performed; Stan Gibson assisted Cullen Kent from Cafe Society with the food. The aerial performances were by Val Russell, Michele Frances and Nancy Neyhart. Heather and Henry Grosvenor and Katherine and John Dobbs were event chairmen. Proceeds will benefit the museum's exhibits and educational programs.

Shining for Le Bonheur

"Bring some sunshine into a child's life!" is the theme of The Le Bonheur Club's Gold Tag Fund Drive. The club recently committed to fund a $1 million endowment for the Child Life Department at Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center.

Justin Gaffrey was the guest artist at the fund drive's kickoff party Thursday night at Clark Opera Center. The brightly colored floral paintings in heavy impasto acrylic by the Blue Mountain Beach, Fla., artist fit perfectly with the party theme. Proceeds from the sale of the paintings went to the fund drive. Sally Perry and Lauren Barnett were event chairmen.
