Strong women
"Born into Brothels," a look at the link between poverty and prostitution in India, won the Best Documentary Feature Academy Award in 2005. That film's producer, Pamela Tanner Boll, is now back: She's the co-director (with Nancy Kennedy) of "Who Does She Think She Is?," a documentary look at "five fierce women" who refuse to choose between motherhood and work, between their children and themselves. The film screens at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art.
Tickets: $7, or $5 for museum members. Visit brooksmuseum.org or call 544-6208.

The dean of Memphis singer-songwriters, Keith Sykes, will perform Thursday at the Memphis Zoo's "Thursdays Unplugged at the Lodge" music series. Sykes will be playing selections from his 30-plus years career, which has included writing songs for Jimmy Buffett and Rosanne Cash, among others.
5:30-8:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for members, $12 for nonmembers. For more information, visit memphiszoo.org.
