Celebrated young violinist featured at Artists Ascending

Violinist Laura Lutzke will perform Sunday at the Belz-Parker Artists Ascending Concert Series at Baron Hirsch Congregation.

Lutzke, a 23-year-old Juilliard graduate student, has impressed listeners in performances around the world. She was concertmaster of the New York Youth Symphony for four years and has won numerous competitions since age 9.

She will be accompanied by Edvinas Minkstimas, who is considered one of Europe’s top emerging young concert pianists.

Lutzke’s performing schedule in the upcoming season includes recitals at the Wave Hill Mansion in Riverdale, N.Y., the Bowdoin and the Caramoor Festivals, the International Holland Music Sessions and the Mozarteum Academy in Salzburg. She will perform works by Franck, Bartok, Bruch, Sibelius and Sarasate.

Artists Ascending has, for more than 40 years, provided performing opportunities for rising classical talents, many of whom have achieved wide recognition. Among them are violinists Itzhak Perlman and Gil Shaham, pianist Jonathan Biss, and conductor and pianist Daniel Barenboim.

Sunday’s event is at 7:30 p.m. at Baron Hirsch, 400 S. Yates Road, and is free to the public.
