"The Drowsy Chaperone": A die-hard musical fan plays his favorite cast album, a 1928 smash hit called "The Drowsy Chaperone," and the show magically bursts to life. "Superior Donuts": In Tracy Letts' provocative comedy, a black teen wants to jazz up his white boss' struggling donut shop in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago. The 2009 Broadway play is the first of two by the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright to be staged locally this season. Pamela Poletti directs the show at The Circuit Playhouse, 51 S. Cooper. "The Wiz": Dorothy is a shy 24-year-old Harlem kindergarten teacher brought by a snowstorm to the Land of Oz in this version of the classic story based on the smash Broadway musical.
