Hard rock titans Guns N’ Roses are coming to the Mid-South. Later this week, details will be formally announced for a Dec. 5 concert date at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, Miss.

The Axl Rose-led band is undertaking its first U.S. tour in over five years. The group released its long awaited LP, Chinese Democracy, in 2008 and largely has been touring internationally.

The band’s current lineup includes bassist Tommy Stinson (of the Replacements fame), drummer Frank Ferrer, keyboardist Chris Pitman, and guitarists Richard Fortus, DJ Ashba and Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal.

The band’s U.S. tour is expected to start in late October in Florida and continue through December. Tickets for the DeSoto Civic Center show will be available at all Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com or (800) 745-3000.

Um, "Rock Giants" don't typically tour 7,000 seat arenas.

... and I'm pretty certain this isn't some sort of "intimate evening" with GnR.

If it was the full lineup of originals I would be all in and the forum wouldn't be big enough. With it basically being Axl's solo band I will pass.
I wonder if he will keep the crowd waiting until 11 like he did back in 92 at the pyramid.

Oh how the mighty have fallen!!! Axl Rose's ego is the reason for what used to be one of the best rock-n-roll bands of all times playing at the Desoto Civic Center of all places.

No Slash, no Duff Mckaggen, no Izzy Stradlin........no thanks!!!!!!!!!

The show will never happen...GNR is too prone to starting past curfew. Don't buy a ticket and save yourself the grief of having to jump thru hoops to get your $$$ back.

Good grief, who gives a rat's rear about this gaggle of nothings.

HERE is the real Axel (Yes, I know it's "Axl", but I aim to dis the wuss) Rose, along with the other Geezers of Rock:

Giant? Yea in 1988. Today just a bloated over ego loving, past dwelling, argumentative jerk. Nice yellow jacket Axel... You look like a Lemon Pie with an jerk on top of it. And not to mention the Memphis Go people telling us what we can and can't say. Better not ever see a rap artist portrayed here, communist jerks. Guns and Roses.... OOOOOHHHHHH bad boys. Watch your mouth... Rock is dead.

Oh, sorry, I forgot to include Axel's latest video:

First of all, this isnt 1988 or 1992. The era of anybody selling out arena tours is over except for The Stones. Secondly, the era of heavy metal is well past its prime. Motley Crue and Slash (as part of Velvet Revolver) have both played the DCC. With respect to the current GNR lineup Axl still has one of the finest set of pipes in all of rock music and you can count all of the rock guitarists on one hand that are better than Bumblefoot. True, Axl is as mercurial as ever. He may show up and he may not. He may go on at the appointed time or he may start 3 hours late for reasons known only to him. But having seen GNR many times, Axl doesnt disappoint once he takes the stage.

Guns N' Roses without Slash and Duff is not Guns N' Roses. Axl sure thinks highly of himself.

Like all those sixties/seventies bands where all but one of the original members are dead, " 'Guns and Roses': featuring Axl Rose" is who is really coming. Maybe next you can review the "Lynyrd Skynyrd" concert for us.

They played RASCALS after that 92 show...round 4am. If you were at THAT show and you made it this far, congratulations. I did, too.

GNR without Duff is never going to be noticed. GNR without Axl and everybody notices. It's really fairly simple.

If you need anything else, let me know.
