Arthur N. Seessel III will take over as interim CEO of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra as the organization makes a national search for a successor to Ryan Fleur.
Seessel, former president of Seessel’s Supermarkets, has served on numerous corporate and community boards.
“I’m just now going through orientations and still meeting people,” he said today, “but certainly the first order of business is to keep us moving in the direction we’re moving because it’s the right way to go. I want to maintain what Ryan and other members of the staff have put into place.”
After nine years at the helm of the MSO, Fleur is leaving on April 20 to work with the Philadelphia Orchestra.
Paul Bert, MSO board chairman, said, “Art is well known and respected in the Memphis community, and will continue to help us build momentum based on his strong business and community service background.”
