The head of the FX network says he still hasn't seen a script for Charlie Sheen's new sitcom, "Anger Management," which is due to premiere in June.
That's a little late, conceded John Landgraf, FX president and general manager. It illustrates the grand gamble made by the cable network, one with a potentially big payoff.
FX usually produces its own series, and Landgraf said he's never ordered one without seeing a pilot episode, much less a script. "Anger Management" is loosely based on the 2003 movie about a troubled therapist who disrupts his patients' lives.
Landgraf said he has faith in Bruce Helford, former producer of "The Drew Carey Show" and the creative force behind the new series. He also said he has met with Sheen, and is confident the actor is trying to pull his life together following the drug-fueled meltdown that led to his firing from CBS' "Two and a Half Men."
"Charlie has 30 years of incredible professionalism under his belt," Landgraf said. " ... Then he had probably the most epic meltdown in the history of television. But he really cares about the quality of his work."
C.K.'s TV daughter a handful
Beware of improvising 6-year-old actors.
That's a warning from comic Louis C.K., who said Sunday that acting with Ursula Parker is one of the hardest parts of his job. Ursula plays one of his two daughters on the FX show "Louie."
C.K. says Ursula likes to improvise and even though he tells her not to, she does it because she knows it bugs him.
The comic joked: "I'm burning film trying to raise this kid."
Bible remarks land Doda with fine
A Polish court slapped a fine on a popular singer who bad-mouthed the Bible -- the latest episode in which authorities grapple with religious defamation in a traditionally Catholic country that is growing increasingly secular.
Dorota Rabczewska, a singer who uses the stage name Doda, said in a 2009 interview that she doubted the Bible "because it's hard to believe in something that was written by someone drunk on wine and smoking some herbs."
A Warsaw court ordered her Monday to pay a fine of $1,450 for offending religious feelings.
Kid Rock in hot water for cigar
Kid Rock has apologized after a man complained that the musician smoked a cigar at a nonsmoking venue in the Detroit area.
Randy Snell says Kid Rock lit the cigar while attending country singer Travis Tritt's show Friday at Andiamo Celebrity Showroom in Warren.
Spokesman Nick Stern said Kid Rock offered his "most sincere apologies" to patrons he may have offended.
Snell, 58, has asthma and says he plans to file a health department complaint.
