Country music legend Merle Haggard is being treated for pneumonia in a Georgia hospital and has had to cancel the rest of his January concert dates.
Publicist Tresa Redburn said she spoke Wednesday to Haggard by phone in his Macon hospital room.
The 74-year-old Haggard was taken to the hospital Tuesday after canceling a Macon show at short notice. He had at least four more dates scheduled for the rest of this month, from Kentucky to Oklahoma.
Tour manager Frank Mull told The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer that Haggard has been sick since leaving his home in northern California last week.
Deal likely in drunken driving case
Former Miss USA Rima Fakih made an initial appearance Wednesday in a Detroit-area courtroom in a drunken driving case that lawyers said could be resolved with a plea deal.
Judge Brigette Officer set a March 14 trial date, but lawyers on both sides said they planned to talk in an attempt to end the case sooner.
Police said Fakih, 26, was driving 60 mph and weaving in and out of traffic without signaling when they pulled her over Dec. 3. Officers reported finding an open bottle of champagne on the floor behind the driver's seat of her 2011 Jaguar.
Fakih was born in Lebanon and moved to the U.S. in 1993 with her family. After settling in New York, the family moved to Michigan in 2003. She won the Miss USA Pageant in May 2010, and her reign ended last June. She was the first Miss Michigan to win the title since 1993 and the first Arab-American winner ever.
Original frontman rejoins Wiggles
The Yellow Wiggle is back. The original lead singer of the world-famous preschool entertainment band The Wiggles has made a surprise return, five years after he left the group because of illness.
Greg Page announced Wednesday that he is immediately rejoining founding members Anthony Field (Blue Wiggle), Murray Cook (Red Wiggle) and Jeff Fatt (Purple Wiggle) to produce new CDs and DVDs before touring Australia, United States and Britain beginning in March.
"I'm feeling great and looking forward to doing what I love," the 40-year-old said in a statement.
A rare nervous system disorder, dysautonomia, forced Page to retire in 2006.
Stars line up for gay marriage play
A star-studded group of A-listers will help George Clooney perform in the Los Angeles premiere of the gay marriage play "8."
The groups Broadway Impact and American Foundation for Equal Rights say Jamie Lee Curtis, Martin Sheen, Yeardley Smith, George Takei and several others will also perform.
The play is based on the trial transcript and interviews from 2010's court fight over California's gay marriage ban, Proposition 8. It will be performed for one night only, March 3, at Wilshire Ebell Theatre.
