Anner J. Echols wore one of her own creations at Oscar Night America 2009 at the Tower Room. Guests dined on food from area restaurants, danced to Dr. Zarr's Amazing Funk Monster and watched the Academy Awards broadcast. More than $65,000 was raised for the Ronald McDonald House of Memphis. The Memphis event is one of only 52  parties sanctioned nationwide by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for Oscar night. Tom Prestigiacomo was host.
