About Andrew Smith
BiographyAndrew “Captain Comics” Smith has written a weekly column on comic books and related pop culture since 1992, which has been syndicated nationally by Scripps Howard News Service since 1994. A contributing editor for “Comics Buyer’s Guide” magazine since 2000, the Captain has had a Web site/forum dedicated to truth, justice and American comic books (captaincomics.us) since 1998. He has served at The Commercial Appeal since 1990 as both copy editor and page designer. Prior to that he was art director for the Panama City (Fla.) News-Herald, and before that managing editor of Express Publishing, which at the time published weekly newspapers in Bartlett, Raleigh and Millington. He is married to Joan Carr, and their only child is a Scottish terrier named Bridget.
