Biography
Jason Smith graduated from the University of Memphis with a B.A. in journalism in 2002 and began work full-time at The Commercial Appeal in August of 2003 as a prep sports writer. In Aug. 2010, Smith began covering Tiger basketball. Smith had worked as a freelance sportswriter for The CA's sports section since 2000, while also holding down jobs as sports editor, managing editor, and editor-in-chief of the student newspaper (The Daily Helmsman) at The University of Memphis.
