Which Macon Road? There's one in Bartlett by Southwest TN Community College and another south of Summer. I'm intrigued by the radish embellishment on the tacos -- you normally just see radishes served with posole. I want to try this place!
I love A-Tan! They have *wonderful* hot and sour soup and gyoza/potstickers. I am enamored of their steamed chicken and veggie dish which comes with two different sauces and has "healthy" written all over it. Nummy!! (And not boring, either!)
I ate there just over a year and a half ago, so I cut them some slack, but I was with my young granddaughters, who were very well behaved, and the staff treated us like crap. They expected us to take the buffet at lunchtime, which we didn't want, and any time we tried to get their attention they acted exasperated. I haven't been back. I work in a service industry and am not needy or demanding (I know what it's like to be in that boat on the other side), but I won't ever go back there.
Anyone who doesn't love the Dixie Pig is not a friend of mine! I'm from B'ville, and I had lunch there most days when I was in HS. Another local barbecue institution to check out is the Kream Kastle. Neither is fancy, but the food is excellent. No slaw! Just cabbage wettened with a bit of vinegar.
You Memphis guys like a thick, sweet sauce. Ours is not like anyone else's. It's thin and spicy and absolutely fantastic!
