Written on Stax veteran Parker's life, music featured on stage:

Deanie deserves every accolade she gets. She was a driving force at Stax for many years and she is the one who put the Stax Academy together and made it happen.

Congratulations Deanie.

Written on Memphis Horns sidemen move to front with Grammy Lifetime Achievement award:

It's great that Andrew and Wayne are receiving this great honor, its well deserved.

That should be followed up with a campaign
by the local NARAS Chapter to make sure that next year two long overdue Memphis Music people receive special Grammys. One for a Trustee Award to Chips Moman, the other to a Lifetime Acheivement Award to the American Studio rhythm section aka The Memphis Boys.

Moman produced many, many big hits by big artists too numerous to mention at American Studios. The Rhythm section, six very talented and inventive and creative musicians played and was greatly responsible for over 120 hit records at American. It is a phenomemon that the same six men played on every one of those hit records.

Written on People: Trump withdraws from Indy 500 pace car gig:

Trump is pulling out of the wrong race, he doesn't need to waste his time thinking about running for President no less actually running for it.

He's an egomaniacal clown who probably thinks the Presidency is beneath him.

I for one am tired of hearing from and about him and the media needs to give it a rest with his bullcrap!!!!!!!!

Written on People: Don't forget Philip's 90th birthday:

Who cares!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I for one am tired of these do nothing royals who have leeched off the British people all their lives.

In addition, this is America we don't have royals here nor do we want them.

The media needs to devote their time and space to things in this world that are worthwhile instead.

Written on Music life comes 'full circle' for Steve Tyrell:

It seems Tyrell is like George Klein, he takes credit for things where credit is not due.

He makes it sound like he discovered American Studios, Chips Moman and all the artists they produced, when in fact all he was was Scepter Records promotion man back then and American and Chips Moman made a label deal with Scepter for Moman's artist,Ronnie Milsap, who Moman and Herb O'Mell managed. As for BJ Thomas,Moman and the American Studio band made him a hit artist and Scepter was chosen to distribute his records. Songwriter Mark James was signed to Moman's publishing company and it was Moman who decided to record him a couple of times and put his record on Scepter.

It's a shame and sad when people have to exagerrate their importance.

Written on Justin Timberlake plans to return to music by summer:

Thanks for the warning!

Get the computers and In Tune technology ready so he won't be exposed as not a good singer.

He's like most of the singers today, manufactured, hyped and choreographed with a voice that's technology enhanced to hide the fact that he ain't all that.

Written on He's Justin time:

Methinks he's a bit over hyped as many of today's young so-called celebrities are concerned.

He's really not that good as a singer. It would have been a joke for him to run Stax and Ray Fleming proved what he's capable of accomplishing when he was the head of the Music Commission--
NOTHING!!!!!!!

Written on People: Olbermann suspended for political contributions:

Another stupid move by a media outlet.

Olberman like any other broadcasting personality and employee is an American citizen and has a right to contribute to his choice of candidate for office. Just as it is his right to vote for them.

Fox News and its parent company,News,Inc. contributed $1 Million to the Republicans, what's the difference?

Written on Concert Review: Black Crowes give masterful performance at Mud Island:

And when will the city ever get a clue and turn the Mud Island Park into Memphis Music Island. Most of the year the River Museum and the Park draws 10 people and the city continues to lose money at the tune of $1 Million plus. Yet whenever there's a concert in the Amphitheater it's sold out. 3900 people is just short of the 4,000 capacity. Most acts sell it all out.

Turn the Museum into a Memphis Music Hall Of Fame and Museum and make all the other features and amenities related to Memphis Music and the city will make money not lose it.

Does anyone at city hall have a clue? There aare successful music people that are still here like Marty Lacker who was highly successful in the Memphis Music Industry back in the late 60's and 70's when all the hits were recorded here who promoted the industry and the city very well to the rest of the world. Why not take advantage in his and others expertise and experience and turn Mud Island into a shining tourist attraction for MMemphis. It would certainly enhance what is planned for the Pinch District and the PPyramid.

Written on Best Bet: Corned beef sandwich:

It's understandable that irish guy who wrote this says it's an Irish-American thing they picked up in NY, well guess who they picked it up from-JEWS!

Let's give credit where credit is due. Corn Beef sandwiches are a staple of the Kosher Delis and families.

It's nice that the Irish like it too.

Written on Grammy-nominated singer Deborah Allen returns home musically:

That was not a Memphis Mafia reunion that was a George Klein reunion. he is bnot authorized to use the MM name.

Written on Out of this world: The best burgers in town:

it is a crime to leave Burger King's char broiled hamburgers off this list, they are on par for taste with any of these local hyped places mentioned.

However I have fond memories of Alex's on Jackson where a friend of mine, after we both got out of the army in '56, used to go there every afternoon for two months drinking two pitchers of beer just to celebrate being home after being away for two years stationed in Europe. He got lucky and was in Paris and I was in Germany.

I'm sure that information just thrills the hell out of you all.

Written on People: 'Suge' sues Kanye over 2005 Miami shooting:

That's hilarious, Suge Knight sueing over being shot. If everyone who Suge was responsible for them getting shot were to sue his a$$,he'd be penniless for the rest of his thug life.

Big tough Suge Knight crying like a baby to a judge.

Written on People: Fox cuts LL Cool J from Palin show:

Toby Keith is also unhappy that they're using an old video interview he did with someone else and they're making it look like he did it with Palin.

Ms. "Abide by The Law And Be A good American", continues to be a sham and a liar in this, just as in most of the lies and twisting of the truth she spews in her speeches.

Anybody that follows her and thinks she's a great leader for this country must have a screw loose in their head.

Written on People: Fox cuts LL Cool J from Palin show:

The headline would be more appropriate if it read, "LL Cool J Disses Palin And Fox" or
LL Cool J Wants No Part of Palin or Fox."

Fox is making it look like it's their idea when it was not, it was LL's and I don't blame him. I wouldn't want to be associated with either Fox or Palin. Especially her.

Written on At last, Klein opens new page on pal Elvis:

tny11 writes:
Look for this book in the FICTION center of your favorite bookstore because Klein, as he does on his Elvis radio show, tells some whopper untruths including the fact that he got Elvis to record at American Studios with Chips Moman in '69. Every Elvis fan and others know that for fact the person who was solely responsible for Elvis going to American Studios was Marty Lacker, longtime close friend of Elvis who was also his right hand man for a number of years as well as Elvis' co-best man at Elvis' wedding to Priscilla.

Lacker later went on to become one of the leaders of the Memphis Music Industry where he learned about the great work of Moman and his rhythm section that had recorded over 120 hits at the studio. Lacker at Moman's request became General manager of American Studios a few months after Elvis recorded there. Lacker was also responsible for Elvis doing two sessions at Stax Studios in '72 & '73.

Let's give credit where creedit is due. There's nothing worse than someone who takes credit for things others actually did and that seems to be a trait and fault of Klein's.
