nice. respect the fries. Ubee's, Young Ave. Deli and The Majestic need to have a French Frie contest!
Where is Beifuss? Did he get a pay cut and agree to review less? The Bloodshot Eye is still up waving the CA banner, but why are we, again, reading an out of town reviewer assessment of a major movie playing in Memphis? Rottentomatoes.comcovers that ground suitably.
Bring Back Beifuss!
WTF? No Beiffus review? I hope the CA did not pay for someone from another city's review. If we want to get non-Memphian reviews, we go to www.rottentomatoes.com The CA should leave the reviews to John Beiffus or just give us a link to some other site. Weak.
High praise for a 2 star review. Intriguing.
who wants a flea market lawyer?
so you smoke weed, huh? good advertising. I'm sure plenty of the moms whose knucklehead sons are your target audience are going to drop them off at your shows after that line.
cool story. have fun.
"Customers like Zach McCrary of Olive Branch get their fill of unusual and tasty sandwiches at Pop's Deli."
Classic picture that is also a recommendation.
Go Biggs, call them to the carpet. Sounds like the food is good, but there is room for improvement. Its better to get their attention early so they can improve. Waiters that are more interested in the scene should clock out and make the scene. I hope you left her 13%, pre-tax, only, for her inattentive approach.
Nice. When will the French Fry challenge begin?Does Tops still serve crinkle cuts?Check out Ubee's and Majestic for quality fries. However, continue your public service and do The French Fry expose that this city needs. Call if you need a hand, mouth or gut to assist.irv
Nerds, converge!
P.S.-Biefuss is a Memphis institution.
"It’s anyone’s guess whether Wellford Scott’s wistful gazes into the audience whenever she contemplates life in the theater are the sappy direction of Jerry Chipman or an eye-rolling tribute to Norma Desmond. But far too much of it causes the audience to gaze wistfully at the exit sign over the theater door."
DANG, them's fighting words. Isn't this town too small for the theater critic to really throw down a zinger like this? I hope not. The theater crowd is a small enough group that they better take their lumps and inspire a paragraph of such passion in praise of the work that those outside of the family want in.This is just another piece of theater that 99% of this town won't see.
And do not forget Damon played the student in Good Will Hunting; which had an awesome soundtrack.
Sadly, the Island was looking a bit more worn than when Plant and Krauss played. A noticeable percentage of the path lights were burned-out.
More significantly, who was Fagan kidding? Either the sound tech needs to be fired or he was hiding a seriously faded voice.
It was a good show, but $65.00 a head still feels a bit overpriced.

Good Job. And what about them pizza buffs? Need elastic waistband for that series? Long live the Pizza Inn fried corn on the cob! Thanks
The boxty at the Kitchen is real good.
Well done. Thanks for the informative piece about a new place. It sounds great.
Thanks for focusing on the food and environs. Good Job. Ubee's really is a great restaurant.
First person is necessary? Crabby? No, the reality is that the CA has staff members who write great restaurant reviews that focus on the food and setting. Great reviews are written by Peggy Burch:
http://www.gomemphis.com/news/2008/oc...
Besides reviewing the reviewer is totally fair game. Biggs'-her's-personally- reviews are weak. And, it gave folks the time to come champion her cause.
I, Me, me, me, me, me.Confusing discussion of food origins. Me, me, me, what I like. Brief discussion about the food. Thanks for the chips and salsa info.I want something obscure.
Huh? She must be a black licorice type situation; someone high up must love her and the rest just remain puzzled why.
Is she really the food critic for the CA? At least Koeppel wrote about the restaurants; not just publish what others post on a blog. Beiffus reviews movies and you can go to his blog. Beiffus also has the unannoying habit of writing about the subject and not himself. When one considers the number of self referential statements by Biggs in her "articles", one wonders whether she can walk on air or when we are all going to join the cult of Biggs. That Kool Aid aint my flavor.
Once again, Ms. Burch's restaurant review makes one wonder why she is not the lead food reporter/critic for the CA. While Biggs may have a blog or host wine tastings, her articles are primarily about her. Ms. Burch addresses the issues readers care most about in a restaraunt review; descriptions of the food, flavors, setting and price. Thanks again.
