Written on Tribute weekend gives soul singer O.V. Wright overdue recognition:

I can remember my aunts and uncles used to play O.V. Wright records all day long when I was younger. My family were friends with OV when they all were in school together back in the fifties. Some time ago I overheard my aunt talking about how she and others were as guests of OV Wright when he recorded the song "Monkey dog". They would talk about all the great fun they used to have as friends of his.

Even now I continue to listen to them now as an adult. I'm a great fan of O.V. Wright and I have all of his music stored within my collections, even have a rare recording of songs he did "live" oversees. He has the voice that would make you get up and dance, pat your foot to the beat, or sing alone with every note. I feel as if I knew him personally because my family talked about great times they shared with him so much. His music will forever live on, his songs will always remind me of good times, great memories, and wonderful soul music. He was the greatest soul singer that i've ever heard throughout my lifetime.

This is a great honor for a man of his talent and I will be taking part in the events scheduled for this weekend for sure. I wouldn't miss it for the world!
